Homemade Carob Chip Cookies Dog Treat Recipe

July 20, 2022

Recipe #2.

Here is another homemade dog treat recipe in our ongoing series of recipes. Please see the original post for more valuable information and tips on how to make these cookies.

Carob Chip Dog Treats

2 ½ cups oat flour
½ cup warm water
2 eggs
3 Tbs. smooth peanut butter
1/4 cup carob chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  1. In mixing bowl, add water and egg, beat vigorously with a whisk until frothy. Add peanut butter and stir until smooth. Add flour and stir until well blended. Rest dough in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  2. Remove dough from fridge and add 3 quick shots of hot water from faucet to help warm the dough. Stir (you may need to use your hands because the dough will be very stiff.) Add a little more flour if too soupy.
  3. Add carob chips and stir, or knead in, to evenly distribute into dough.
  4. Turn out on floured surface and knead dough until it becomes a well formed, non-sticky ball; add more flour as needed.
  5. Roll dough into a long round log approximately 1 ½" in diameter. Pluck, or cut, uniform amounts of dough from roll and form into a ball.
  6. Place dough balls on cookie sheet and mash down with palm of your hand to form cookie shapes, making sure cookies do not touch.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes, then turn the oven off.  Leave the treats in the warm oven overnight with the oven light on (at least 8 hours).

Store treats in an air-tight container in a cool, dry place. We hope your dogs enjoy these as much as we enjoyed creating them!
